For instance, Kenya’s President William Ruto appointed former Agriculture Minister Felix Koskei as his Chief of Staff.

Koskei, who resigned from retired President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee government in 2015 now takes over from Nzioka Waita who resigned to vie for the Machakos gubernatorial race but lost to Wavinya Ndeti of Wiper.

He will be tasked with working behind the scenes to mediate disputes and deal with issues before they are brought to the Head of State.

The Fist in Command further appointed former Turkana Governor Josephat Nanok as the next State House Controller.

Nanok will now take over from Kinuthia Mbugua who also resigned to focus on the Nakuru gubernatorial seat in the August 9, elections but lost to Susan Kihika.

Koskei, who was an appointee of the then Deputy President William Ruto stepped aside after his name was featured among the list of the most corrupt public officers.

Koskei who was heading one of the biggest cabinet dockets in the Jubilee government was accused of issuing permits under the table to some importers to bring in sugar without passing through the tendering process.

“Even as I step aside today, I maintain that I have never been involved in any of the allegations against me,” he said while announcing his resignation.

Koskei, known to be among intellectuals who form William Ruto’s inner circle of think tanks however insisted that he does not know the accusations against him.
