Deputy President William Ruto has tapped the service of the former Citizen TV news anchor, Hussein Mohamed into his campaign team towards the August 9 General Election.

The former news anchor has been appointed Head of Communication for Deputy President William Ruto’s presidential campaign.

DP Ruto made the announcement on Monday, January 24, through his Twitter account.

“Hussein Mohammed, the renowned TV journalist, has been appointed Head of Communications in the William Ruto Presidential Campaign. Welcome to the Hustler team,” Ruto said.

Mohamed was introduced to Ruto’s team at his official residence in Karen where DP was leading a Parliamentary Group (PG) meeting of United Democratic Alliance affiliated MPs.

Taking to Twitter Mohamed acknowledged the appointment saying he shares the aspirations and beliefs of the bottom-up economic model being advanced by the UDA party.

“Asante your Excellency! I share with the hustler story and so do the majority of Kenyans. Nothing gives me more pleasure than being part of this team that is driving a paradigm shift in our politics and ultimately, governance! from top-down, to bottom-up,” Mohamed said on Twitter.

Mohamed’s appointment will have no impact on Wanjohi Githae’s role as the Director of Communication for the UDA party, while at the same time Emmanuel Tallam will continue serving as the Director of Communication at the Office of the DP.

Many UDA affiliated MPs joined the DP in  welcoming Mohamed to the hustler team, terming his addition as vital in spreading the UDA agenda.
