Former Laikipia North MP Mathew Lempurkel has quit Raila Odinga’s ODM party for President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.

Speaking during the graduation ceremony for Ita ole Kiok at Entiani area of Mau Narok region in Narok county, the former legislator faulted Raila for being dishonest.

Lempurkel said he had suffered a lot for supporting the former Prime Minister after he shortchanged him with his last bourn daughter Winnie Odinga in the EALA nomination list.

He termed the Orange party as a ‘family party’ adding that the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party presidential candidate Raila Odinga is a dishonest leader who cannot be trusted at the helm of this country’s leadership.

“I personally have suffered a lot for my political stand in the party. Raila’s ODM is a family party. I was disappointed by Raila’s move to nominate his daughter Winnie instead of me. Raila is in Canaan alone with his closest cronies and has left us in the wilderness,” he said.

The former lawmaker regretted rallying the Maa community to vote for Raila Odinga saying that over one million votes from Maasai that went to Azimio basket have since counted for nothing.

“Over one million Maasai, Rendile, Elmolo, Laikipiak, and Samburu votes in the Azimio basket counts for nothing,” he said.

While decamping to Kenya’s Kwanza political camp, Lempurkel regretted not voting for President William Ruto in the August 9, presidential election.

“What (President William) Ruto has done to the Maa nation is unbelievable,” he added.

The controversial leader lauded President William Ruto for appointing the Maa community to his Cabinet despite their massive support to the opposition in the August 9, elections.

“The Maa nation has contended with the appointment of a cabinet secretary, two Principal Secretaries, State House comptroller, and other appointments,” he said.
