Former MP Priscilla Nyokabi asks men not to expect much when sending fare

by Enock Ndayala

Former Nyeri county Member of Parliament Priscilla Nyokabi has jokingly asked Kenyan men not to expect too much when sending fare to their loved ones.

Taking to her social media page on Friday, November 19, the former legislator likened sending fare to placing a bet.

She warned men not to expect the best even if their lovers who used the fare would come stating that they may come but you won’t get the goodies.

Former Nyeri county Member of Parliament Priscilla Nyokabi has jokingly asked Kenyan men not to expect too much when sending fare to their loved ones.

“Happy international men’s day to all men. Kutuma fare ni kama kuwekelea bet (Sending a fare is like placing a bet),” she wrote on her Facebook page.

She urged men to be accommodative of the fact that date can flop, and life goes on, the wasted fare notwithstanding.

In most cases, men have been decrying that ladies have been making a kill in the men’s fare where they switch off their phones once they receive an Mpesa message.

To curb this, some of the men have always insisted that the lady facilitates herself before the monies are refunded upon her arrival.

Nyokabi made the remarks during International Men’s Day, a day that is commemorated for people to appreciate and celebrate the men in their lives.

This holiday is celebrated annually on November 19 to recognize the cultural, political, and socioeconomic achievements of men.

According to its website, International Men’s Day was founded in 1999 by Jerome Teelucksingh, a history lecturer at University of the West Indies in Trinidad Tabago.

However, the day is not only a celebration of the positive role of men in society but also an attempt to promote gender equality.

To that end, “Better relations between men and women” is the theme for International Men’s Day 2021.
