Francis Atwoli: I would be Ruto’s father had I met his mother

COTU Secretary-General Francis Atwoli has dismissed Deputy President William Ruto's recent statement that there was a conspiracy to steal the August 9 election.

COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli has rebuked Deputy President William Ruto for disrespecting him saying he was old enough to be his father.

Speaking at the launch of the Universal Health Care (UHC) in Mombasa County on Monday, February 7, Atwoli said Ruto was born at a time he was done with high school and ready to be employed by the government.

“If I had met his mother, I would have been the father,” the COTU boss said amid uproar from the crowd.

Atwoli who is a staunch critic of DP Ruto urged President Uhuru to lead the Mt Kenya voting bloc in voting for Raila Odinga who will be the Azimio la Umoja candidate.

The outspoken unionist maintained his prediction that ODM leader Raila Odinga will emerge victorious in the August 9 presidential election.

Addressing the gathering President Uhuru, hit out at his deputy and his brigade for constantly attacking him and his government.

The Head of State was upbeat that time to politic has come warning DP Ruto to brace for a showdown.

“The time for politics has come and you will listen to us. Now we have those who started early and those of us who have just begun. I told them that this was a marathon,” Uhuru said.

President Uhuru at some point hit out at the Kenya Kwanza alliance that had been waring him against forcing Kenyans to vote for Raila Odinga.

The president pointed out that he has only one vote, of which he will support whoever he believes has the best interest of the country at heart and would also not hesitate to campaign for a candidate of his choice.
