Central Organization for Trade Union (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli has warned Kenyans against Deputy President William Ruto’s presidency.
While warning Kenyans against voting for William Ruto, Atwoli, a fierce critic of the deputy president said that UDA, a party that the presidential hopeful said will use to seek the presidency is made up of criminals.
Speaking to the press on Sunday, January 9, the vocal unionists said the recent statement by Meru Senator Mithika Linturi, a close ally of the deputy president that people who are not supporting Ruto’s urge to be president should be eliminated from Uasin Gishu County clearly indicates what kind of leadership the country will experience under UDA.
“And as I have said this time and again that UDA is composed of criminals. This must be stopped,
“And in your right thinking, am advising you for free …reject William Samoei Ruto. Na muangalie wale watu wote William Samoei Ruto anatembea nao… they are criminals. Na msipomkataa mtajuta mtanikumbuka,” Atwoli said.
The vocal trade unionists further sought to clarify his earlier statement on Deputy President William Ruto ascending to the presidency after the August 9, General Election.
Atwoli said he has never claimed that they will snatch William Ruto’s win adding that he is 100 percent sure that the deputy president will not be voted in to succeed retiring President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“What I have said in the past and maintain is that people will turn up in large numbers to vote but William Ruto will not be the winner. He will be defeated,” said Atwoli.
“I have never said that Ruto will win and not be allowed to take power. My statement is that he will not be president because he will not win,” he maintained.
