Francis Atwoli: William Ruto is a good politician but with bad advisers

by Enock Ndayala
President William Ruto has appointed COTU boss Francis Atwoli’s eldest son Lukoye Atwoli to a lucrative job in new appointments.

Central Organisation for Trade Union (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli has showered Deputy President William Ruto with praises saying he is a good politician.

Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV on Wednesday, October 20, Atwoli further said the deputy president however lacks god advisors, something that will cost him the presidency in the 2022 General Election.

“I am not dismissing him but William Ruto is a shrewd politician. He would have had good advisers,” Atwoli said.

Central Organisation for Trade Union (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli has showered Deputy President William Ruto with praises saying he is a good politician.

He took a swipe at William Rut’s hustler narrative saying that the deputy president was misadvised on the hustler narratives as it promises youth jobs of yesteryears in a fast-changing world.

Atwoli who was recently installed as Luyhia mediator said the deputy president is a sharp politician who can easily become the Head of State if he has been advised well.

According to the COTU boss, William Ruto’s advisers could have advised him to seek the presidency in 2027 or 2032 but not in 2022 as he will fail terribly.

Atwoli said Ruto was misguided to protest the 2018 handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition chief Raila Odinga.

He argued that ever since the famous handshake, a rift emerged within the executive that has led Ruto to publicly criticise the current regime instead of supporting it and this will end up ruining his chances of occupying State House once President Uhuru Kenyatta’s tenure is over.

“If you are a deputy aspiring to be a president in the future, you have to support the person currently in power until the end of his term. By doing so, he will also support your bid,

“You will improve your chances and if you stay humble you will easily get into office,” he said.

Kenyatta is expected to leave office once his second term expires next year with William Ruto and Raila Odinga being considered the frontrunners to succeed him.
