Comedian Jasper Muthomi popularly known by his fans as MC Jessey has sensationally revealed that he spent KSh 58 million in the last General Election.

Churchill live Show comedian Jasper Muthomi, alias MC Jessy has finally left Deputy President William Ruto’s party just three months after joining with the aim of vying for a parliamentary seat.

Jessy is set to vie for the South Imenti parliamentary seat as an independent candidate after missing out on the United Democratic Alliance ticket.

“Sent like an arrow from a mighty man’s hand. We keep going. Bado tuko kwa race (We are still in the race). Let’s do this South Imenti, 9 August it is,” he said in a Tweet on Monday, April 18.

Jessy however said he will continue popularising William Ruto’s presidential ambitions ahead of the highly anticipated General Election.

This comes just a week after the deputy president announced that the comedian-cum-politician will not be vying for the Imenti South parliamentary seat as part of negotiated democracy where several aspirants were convinced to drop their political ambitions in favour of others who are considered stronger.

Ruto in a statement on April 13, said that Jessy, who previously sought to vie for the Imenti South parliamentary seat on a UDA party had dropped out of the race in favour of Mwiti Kathaara.

“MC Jessy (Jasper Muthomi) will join the presidential campaign team after postponing his parliamentary bid in favor of Mwiti Kathaara for the South Imenti Seat,” Ruto said then.

MC Jessy has thus dispelled the reports saying he is firmly in the race and assured his supporters that he will be on the ballot in the August 9 General Election.

In January 2022, Jessy officially joined the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), a party heavily linked with Deputy President William Ruto.

The long-time Churchill live Show comedian said he joined William Ruto’s camp after consulting the electorate in his constituency, who okayed his move to the Tanga Tanga political wing.

“It’s now clear where the vision is heading. After many days of consultative meetings with my South Imenti people, I have officially been invited to join UDA,” MC Jessy said.
