Gachagua: The problem is that Raila will sleep during cabinet meetings

by Enock Ndayala
Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has torn into Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s outbursts.

Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential running mate Rigathi Gachagua has said that the Kenya Kwanza coalition doesn’t have a problem with ODM leader Raila Odinga.

Speaking during the Kenya Kwanza consultations with the residents of Taita Taveta on Tuesday, May 24, Gachagua said that their problem with Raila is that he will fall asleep in every cabinet meeting if he succeeds President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“Hata hatuna ubaya na huyu Kitendawili… Hata tunaweza samehe yeye makosa yake yote lakini huyu mzee wa miaka 80 ataweza hiyo kazi?

Mkutano wa baraza la mawaziri huanza asubuhi hadi jioni. Sasa akiingia saa mbilikufika saa tano atakuwa amelala ama hajalala?” Gachagua said.

“Even we are not at fault with this old man… We can even forgive him for all his mistakes but will this 80-year-old man do the job? …The cabinet meeting runs from morning till evening. Now if he comes in at eight to five o’clock will he be asleep or not?” Gachagua posed.

Gachagua said the country currently has a debt of KSh 11.3 trillion and that more than 14 million Kenyans have been listed at the CRB hence the country needs a president who will work day and night to save the nation.

Gachagua further exuded confidence that William Ruto will beat former Prime Minister Raila Odinga hands down in this year’s presidential race.

He said is a reject who has been rejected by Kenyans in the last four General Elections adding that the same voting trend is expected in the August 9, General Election

In January the 2022 presidential election front runner turned 77 years will be giving his fifth and presumably the last attempt at the presidency.

In a different story, Kivumbi.co.ke reported that the Mathira MP suggested that big corporate companies such as Safaricom should be sold and proceeds given to smaller firms.

“Why have major tax-paying companies like Safaricom and KQ (Kenya airways)? Just sell them and give the money to small businesses.

“Their impact will be thirty times more than from just one big corporate. So we are not chasing big corporates. We are saying that even small and medium investors be taken care of,” Gachagua said.
