Outspoken Garissa Woman Rep Anab Gure has opened up on why she prefers female bodyguards over their male counterparts.
On Monday, July 12, the lawmaker was accompanied by two heavily armed female bodyguards dressed in hijabs and tactical vests.
Anab Gure’s female bodyguards were seen carrying AK47 rifles during her visit to DekaHarja ward where she oversaw the commencement of the registrations of persons for the national identity cards.
In an interview with Nation Media on Tuesday, July 13, the Tanga Tanga allied legislator revealed that she prefers having women as bodyguards since she believes that women can do better than men.
“I prefer women bodyguards as my security detail. I believe that women can do better than men,” she said.
The women’s representative further said that she prefers female bodyguards since they use personal accessories that match hers.
“There are some women’s personal items I can forget to carry but find that my bodyguards have them in their bags, “There are also some talks that I cannot express when I have a male bodyguard,” Garissa Woma rep said.
She further said they do not only accompany her on border tours but are always with her.
“The place I went to was 10km from the Somalia border and I saw the need to have one vehicle of security officers accompanying me. The area was recently attacked by suspected Al-Shabaab militants, I could not have risked my life,” she said.
