Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has been kicked out of the People Empowerment Party where he has been serving as the Party leader.
In a twist of events, the Party leadership has now been taken away from the Gatundu South legislator who is a close ally to William Ruto.
According to a report by the Star, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria fell out with the PEP leadership over plans to rebrand the party and aligning it to William Ruto’s hustler nation slogan.
PEP national chairman Watson Simiyu has admitted there is a fallout with Kuria, but there is a planned meeting to iron out the differences.
“We had issues after the Juja and Gaturi by-elections which we are trying to sort out. We have a meeting on Monday which we have invited him to attend to try to iron out the problem,” Watson Simiyu said.
Moses Kuria also admitted that there are disagreements in PEP, a party in which he has come to be heavily identified with.
“I am still committed to PEP and hopefuly we will resolve the thorny issues,” he told the newspaper.
Considering he is holding a top leadership position in PEP, it is believed Moses Kuria is not ready to fully join UDA Party which is associated with William Ruto.
He however subscribes to the ideals of UDA and is technically part of William Ruto’s bandwagon.
Speaking in Murang’a on July 21, Moses Kuria stated that he will not board the UDA train fully because of his own political safety.
“If you go for dowry negotiations and you are being carried in a car donated by the groom, the groom’s family will not respect you and you will not get much,
“I will not be counted among those negotiating dowry from a point of weakness. This is message is for Kang’ata so that he can deliver it to our boss,” Kuria said in a cryptic message to William Ruto’s UDA.
Under Moses Kuria’s leadership, PEP has been subscribing to the hustler narrative and working closely with UDA in recent by-elections.
The party had to back out of the Kiambaa contest to support UDA’s John Njuguna.
