Gatundu South MP predicts a landslide win for Raila Odinga in 2022

by Enock Ndayala

Outspoken Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has predicted a landslide win for Raila Odinga in the hotly anticipated 2022 presidential elections.

The 2022 presidential election has many aspirants but analysts predict it to be a 20horse race between William Ruto and former prime minister Raila Odinga.

Odinga will be taking his 5th stab at the presidency having first contested for the country’s top seat in 1997 as well as 2007, 2013, and 2017.

William Ruto on the other hand will be making his first attempt but he was considered a key player in Riala’s most successful presidential campaigns in 2007. He also played a key role in President Uhuru’s wins in 2013 and 2017.

According to Moses Kuria’s projection, Deputy President William Ruto is likely to defeat the ODM leader in Mt Kenya region with a slight margin but the few votes Raila will get in Mt Kenya will be substantial enough for him to win the presidency with a landslide.

He argues that should the 2022 State House race be a two-horse race as analysts have said, Raila will get more than 52 percent of the total votes cast while William Ruto will get a mere 47 percent in the whole country.

However, in the event the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) principals Kalonzo Musyoka of Wiper and Musalia Mudavadi of ANC will be on the ballot, then neither Raila nor Ruto will win the presidency in the first round.

Kuria, who is associated with the Chama Cha Kazi (CCM) says the OKA factor will spoil the party for Raila and Ruto with the ODM Raila expected to be hit the hardest.

With barely 10 months to the 2022 General Election, insiders in William Ruto’s UDA camp are now pushing the former Agriculture Minister to consider working with OKA or forget the presidency.

“The Deputy President (William Ruto) should as a matter of urgency engage the One Kenya Alliance leaders,” said Kaburu Kinoti, a Kenyatta University lecturer and secretary-general of the Peace and Development Party.
