Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria is set to undergo a rarely done surgery in a Dubai hospital, where he has been hospitalised for over a month after suffering 3rd-degree burns in October.

Speaking to Capital FM, the legislator said he will undergo Stem Cell surgery to heal his feet that were burnt by an electric mat.

This will be one of the many surgeries that Moses Kuria has undergone ever since being hospitalized in October.

“I am scheduled for stem cell surgery this week. This is a rare surgery and I will be among the pioneers to undergo it in the world,” the Gatundu South MP told Capital FM.

A stem cell surgery is a rare medical procedure in which a patient receives healthy stem cells (blood-forming cells) to replace their own stem cells that have been destroyed by treatment with radiation or high doses of chemotherapy.

In this case, Moses Kuria will be receiving healthy stem cells to replace those destroyed after his legs were burnt by an electric blanket.

In November, Moses Kuria revealed he had undergone 7 successful surgeries since the unfortunate incident.

“Just woke up from the seventh surgery in two months. God is indeed faithful. Thank you all for the prayers Hon Cate Waruguru,” he wrote on his social media pages.

After Moses Kuria suffered the burns, parliament summoned a company that sold him the faulty electric blanket.

The company-Ceragem Limited was found to be operating in the country as a healthcare provider without Pharmacy and Poisons Board approval as required by the law.

Before the Parliamentary committee for health, Moses Kuria asked the house to take action on the company.

“Their products were banned in Texas for fraudulently making claims of curing cancer. The company must take responsibility, I have contacted DCI and the criminal process is taking place,” he said.
