Gideon Kipsiele Towett Moi early life
On October 22, 1963, Gideon Moi was born to the late retired president Daniel arap Moi and Mama Lena Moi. He is 57-years-old.
He is the youngest son of Kenya’s second president, who died in February 2020. His mother earlier lost her life in July 2004.
During his lifetime, reports indicated Daniel Moi favoured Gideon more than his other siblings.

Gideon Moi studied at Kento College Preparatory School located along Gichugu Road, Nairobi, from 1970 to 1976.
He joined Strathmore School from 1977 to 1980 for his O levels. He then proceeded to the prestigious St Mary’s High School in Nairobi for his A levels.
After completing his secondary school education, his father flew him to Stafford University in the United States of America (USA) in 1979. He graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in economics in 1984.

Gideon Kipsiele Towett Moi has been engaged in active politics since 2002 when he was elected Baringo Central member of parliament on a KANU ticket.
In the 2007 elections, he was swept by the strong Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) wave and lost his seat to long-serving civil servant Sammy Mwaita.
Mwaita bagged 26,603 votes to Gideon Moi’s 7,527.
Gideon Moi made a comeback in the 2013 General Election after he was elected Baringo senator on a KANU ticket.
He floored preacher Jackson Kosgei in a landslide win securing over 80% of the total votes.
In the 2017 polls, he survived the Jubilee wave again, beating the ruling party’s candidate Simon Chelugui.
Gideon Moi is a member of the Committee on Energy, Senate Business Committee and the Standing Committee on Lands, Environment and Natural Resources.
He is Chairperson of the Committee on Information, Communication and Technology.
Gideon Moi and 2022 presidential candidacy
On Thursday, September 30, 2021, Gideon Moi was unanimously endorsed by over 3,000 KANU delegates from 47 counties to run for president in the August 2022 General Election.
His unveiling as a presidential candidate was graced by ODM leader Raila Odinga and One Kenya Alliance (OKA) principals.
The KANU boss vowed to empower Kenyans and end rampant graft in the public service.
