Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki says he is ready to join Deputy President William Ruto days after declaring his support for ODM leader Raila Odinga in the 2022 elections.

“I am done with scrutinizing the presidential aspirants and I have made up my mind,

“Go and tell your friend William Ruto that I’m ready for marriage but there must be courtship and negotiations,” Tharaka Nithi Governor told Maara MP Karehe Mbiuki, a close ally of the deputy president.

In October 2021, Governor Muthomi Njuki hosted President Uhuru Kenyatta’s handshake partner where he together with his Laikipia counterpart Nderitu Muriithi, Lee Kinyanjui (Nakuru), James Nyoro (Kiambu), and Francis Kimemia (Nyandarua) where they threw their weight behind the opposition leader Raila Odinga.

“I have been torn between supporting Ruto and Raila, but according to several rallies I have addressed here in Tharaka Nithi, the old narrative has changed,

“The time has come to join the winning team I can bravely opine that (Raila) Odinga is the next President,” said Muthomi Njuki.

His move to ditch Raila Odinga makes him the third county boss from the vote-rich Mt Kenya region to ditch Railf for Ruto after Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga announced his support for William Ruto days after singing to the tunes of Raila’s Azimio la Umoja.
