Hassan Joho wonders why Mt. Kenya residents allow Ruto allies to insult President Uhuru

by Amos Khaemba

ODM deputy party leader who is also the outgoing Mombasa Governor, Hassan Joho has hit out at Mt Kenya residents for allowing Deputy President William Ruto’s allies to continuously insult President Uhuru Kenyatta in his backyard.

Speaking in Ol-Kalou Nyandarua County, during the Azimio la Umoja campaign on Tuesday, February 1, Joho wondered why Mt Kenya residents are not shielding President Kenyatta against insults which he claimed have the blessing of DP Ruto.

“The other day I saw people come to Mt Kenya to insult your leader and you people are celebrating. If you are not careful the outcome of such insults will be grave,” Joho said.

The outspoken governor, who is on spot himself for insulting President Uhuru before they reconciled, declared that Raila’s foot soldiers will not allow DP Ruto and his allies to hurl insults at the President.

In the run-up to the 2017 General Election, Joho compared Jubilee party leader (President Uhuru) to a drunk bus driver while his deputy (Wiliam Ruto) is a dishonest bus conductor.

Joho said they will be forced to take the DP head-on if he will not cease his incessant attacks on President Kenyatta

Speaking at the same event, Ndaragwa MP Jeremiah Kioni said it was very unfortunate for DP Ruto to recruit leaders from Mt Kenya into disrespecting President Uhuru.

He pointed out that such sustained attacks only show that William Ruto and his allies have lost respect for the head of state.

“He has called the president ‘tapeli’, it means conman. You looked for leadership together and now you turn to call him a conman, even common decency is not there,” Kioni said.

Recently DP and his allies have sustained their attack on President Uhuru Kenyatta over his relationship with ODM leader Raila Odinga.

The UDA brigade led by DP Ruto himself has recently come to openly accuse the president of trying to impose Odinga on Kenyans.

“I want to tell my friend, the president of Kenya, that the people of Kenya rejected a project 20 years ago. There is no way they can elect anybody’s puppet (in August 2022 presidential elections),” Ruto said in Bungoma.

Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua who is the front runner to be Ruto’s running mate recently challenged President Kenyatta to first explain to Mt. Kenya residents, why he abandoned the region before explaining why they should vote ODM leader Raila Odinga.
