Huyo mama mzee ataolewa na nani? William Ruto hits out at Charity Ngilu

by Enock Ndayala
Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has blasted Deputy President William Ruto for continuously claiming that he made Uhuru the president.

The cold war between outgoing Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu and Deputy President William Ruto took a nasty turn on Tuesday, July 19.

More often than not, Charity Ngilu will waste no opportunity to hit out at William Ruto through her social media accounts or at political rallies.

Recently, she dismissed Ruto’s assertion that Kitui County created more jobs by setting up a textile manufacturing firm than President Uhuru’s multi-billion gun factory set up in Nanyuki.

According to Ngilu, Ruto is too corrupt and people would think she is also corrupt if she acknowledges any praise from him.

While campaigning for former Nairobi deputy governor Jonathan Mueke who is aspiring to be the next Kitui county governor on a UDA ticket, William Ruto dismissed Charity Ngilu as too old to be married.

“Huyu Jonathan Mueke alikuwa deputy governor kule Nairobi? si alifanya kazi mzuri kule Nairobi… Ya hapa Kitui si anaweza? Na yule mama (Charity Ngilu) aliendaje? Ati alienda bondo? aliendaje bondo?

A section of the crowd is heard saying Charity Ngilu found hersdelf in Bondo (Raila Odinga’s village home) through marriage.

“Kwani huyo mama mzee hivyo anaweza kuolewa? Anaolewa na nani?” Ruto said in reference to Charity Ngilu.

Loosely translated to “This Jonathan Mueke was the deputy governor in Nairobi? Didn’t he do a good job in Nairobi… Can’t he here in Kitui? And how did the other lady went to? Can that old mother get married? Who can marry such an old woman?”

Kivumbi.co.ke understands that Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu who recently dropped out of the Kitui gubernatorial race in the August 9, General Election is a widow, having lost her husband Michael Mwendwa Ngilu in 2006.

The 70-year-old is now a very close ally of Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party presidential candidate Raila Odinga.

She is among those who have opted not to defend their political seat in the hope of being absorbed into Raila’s government should he become president.
