Meru County’s First Gentleman, Murega Baichu has sensationally claimed that he is suffering from gender-based violence (GBV).

Speaking at the Milimani Court on Friday, October 28, Baichu, the husband to Meru governor-elect Kawira Mwangaza has been banned from getting a lift from his wife’s official car forcing him to enlist the services of a boda boda.

The Meru-based musician further claimed that he does not sleep with his wife at their official residence because he is not a state officer.

Meru County’s First Gentleman, Murega Baichu has sensationally claimed that he is suffering from gender-based violence (GBV).

“It is said that I should not sleep at the governor’s official residence because I am not a government employee and I feel that I am going through Gender-Based Violence,” he said.

On her part, the newly elected governor Kawira Mwangaza wondered why only her hubby was being targeted while other county chiefs were sharing the county amenities with their spouses.

“We have seen the wives of our superiors flagging off relief food, why hasn’t Omtatah reported them? Is it just Murega being targeted for being a husband of a governor? They have pushed him to the point he is no longer sleeping at home. He is now sleeping in a wooden house,” the governor said.

As such, Murega has written to the EACC asking them to clarify whether he should be sleeping in the governor’s official residence or he should look for his own accommodation every time his wife is in town. “I would wish to understand if I should sleep at the governor’s official residence or ride in her official government vehicle. I also want to know which county meetings I should attend because, to this end, I feel I am being subjected to Gender Based-Violence (GBV),” he explained
