I have no plan to kill you, President Uhuru tells Ruto, Gachagua

President William Ruto has maintained that Kenyans must pay their taxes diligently if the country is to return to a state similar to President Mwai Kibaki's regime when he said the economy boomed.

Kenya Kwanza leaders have intensified their attacks on President Uhuru Kenyatta over what they termed as threats directed UDA leaders for supporting deputy president William Ruto.

On Friday, July 29, William Ruto alleged that President Uhuru Kenyatta was planning to harm him, his family members, and his allies.

The UDA presidential flag bearer said the Head of State had started threatening him just days before the August 9, General Election.

While on a campaign trail in Nyeri County, William Ruto’s 2022 presidential running mate Rigathi Gachagua also claimed that his life was in danger.

Gachagua accused President Uhuru of holding a secret meeting during which he said he will teach him, MPs Moses Kuria (Gatundu South) and Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu) a lesson.

But speaking during the commissioning of the Nairobi Expressway at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Sunday, July 31, the Head of State said he has never thought about harming his political foes.

The outgoing Head of State said he had persevered with insults from the Kenya Kwanza bandwagon over the past three years and that it was pointless to act against his rivals when he was leaving office.

“When I call you out for telling lies, don’t g around propagating that I want to kill you. Haven’t you insulted me for three years? Haven’t I been the holder of this office for those three years?

“I had the power to do so. Now, when I am getting ready to hand over and have limited powers, do you think I have the time to look for you? Please focus on your campaigns and sell your manifesto. I am finishing up on my work,” the President said.
