Ida Odinga: I have seen my husband, Raila, work tirelessly for many years

ODM leader Raila Odinga’s wife, Ida Odinga has urged Kenyans to elect the former prime minister as the 5th president saying he has sacrificed a lot for the country.

Taking on Facebook on Wednesday, May 11, Ida recalled how her husband has dedicated many years of his life to fighting for the democratic freedom of a nation.

According to Mama Ida, August 9, provides an opportune time for Kenyans stimulate to the legacy began by the ODM leader.

“For years, I’ve seen my husband work tirelessly for our Nation. I’ve seen how hard he’s fought for democracy, defending the people. Each step of the way he’s always had our back. This is the time to spur his legacy forward come August 9th.” Ida said on Facebook.

Raila and Ida got married in 1973 and are blessed with four children, Fidel (now deceased), Rosemary, Raila Junior, and Winnie.

The ODM who is currently enjoying the support of President Uhuru Kenyata has in the past consistently described Ida as the family’s “pillar”.

The Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya presidential candidate is on record for singling out mama Ida’s efforts to bring up their children when he was detained on two separate occasions in the 1980s.

“In those hard times of long and uncertain incarceration, if I was not reading the Holy Bible, I found deep solace in Mama Ida’s love and support. She became a constant guest of the police cells through constant arrests and harassment. I can’t thank her enough.” Rail said last year during the Azimio la Umoja convention.

The former Prime Minister who is making his fifth attempt at the presidency is facing stiff competition from the Kenya Kwanza presidential candidate William Ruto

He first vied for the presidency in the 1997 elections where he became third, with late former president Daniel Moi winning the polls.

He vied again in 2007 and lost to late Former President Mwai Kibaki. In 2013 and 2017, Raila also vied but lost to President Uhuru Kenyatta
