IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati’s wife shortlisted for PS job

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairman Wafula Chebukati’s wife Mary Chebukati has been shortlisted for the position of Principal Secretary (PS) job.

The Public Service Commission stated that Chebukati’s wife was among the 477 names shortlisted for the various PS jobs.

While releasing the list, the commission said that almost 10,000 Kenyans had expressed their interest in serving the country in that capacity.

If approved, Chebukati’s wife will be among the 44 PS who will serve the country in different State departments.

Also on the list are around 20 PSs who served under the Jubilee administration as well as members of President William Ruto’s economic advisory council.

Some of those who worked under the Jubilee government and were shortlisted include Saitoti Torome (Planning), Nelson Marwa (Social Protection), Belio Kipsang (Regional and Northern Corridor Development), Margaret Mwakimu (TVET), and Fred Sigor (Wildlife).

Among those who served under retired President Uhuru Kenyatta include Esther Koimett (Broadcasting and Telecommunications), Peter Kaberia (Industrialisation), and Julius Jwan (Education) Housing, Agriculture and ICT PSs, Charles Hinga, Francis Owino and Jerome Ochieng respectively were also shortlisted.

Allies of President William Ruto including former Lang’ata Member of Parliament Nixon Korir, and Isaac Mwaura were among the successful 477 applicants.

Korir lost the seat to former Kiss FM presenter Felix Odiwour alias Jalang’o while Isaac Mwaura lost in the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party primaries.

PSs are usually involved in the coordination and implementation of government projects in State Departments.

Former Trans Nzoia gubernatorial aspirant Chriss Wamalwa and former Narok governor, Samuel Tunai were also shortlisted.

The 477 candidates will be interviewed by PSC as of October 12.

Names of successful applicants with them be submitted to the Head of State for nomination.
