Details have emerged on how Kenya Kwanza intends to share positions should it form the next government after the August 9, elections.

In the leaked power-sharing document filed with the Registrar of Political Parties Anne Nderitu on Sunday, May 8, the presidential flag bearer position is reserved for the UDA party specifically William Ruto.

In the agreement, Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi will be named the Prime Cabinet Secretary whereas his Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Wetang’ula will be appointed the Speaker of the National Assembly.

Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi of the Pamoja Alliance Party (PAA) has been promised the Senate Speaker slot but on the condition that he brings at least 50 percent of the total presidential votes cast in his county.

Over the weekend, the outgoing Governor ditched Raila’s Azimio la Umoja- One Kenya for William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza.

The coalition agreement further proposes for a cabinet with 21 ministries that will be shared out in line with the pact.

In the Ruto power structure, Mudavadi and Wetangula will be allocated 30 percent of the appointive government positions should Kenya Kwanza win in the August polls.

However, for Mudavadi and Wetang’ula to get the said promises, the agreement proposes that they should bring at least 2.5 million votes to Kenya Kwanza from the five counties that form the Western bloc.

Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader Alfred Mutua, the new entrant in the coalition has been promised a Cabinet Secretary slot only if he brings at least 35 percent of the total presidential votes cast in the Eastern region.
