Jimmy Wanjigi claims Raila, President Uhuru working to stop his presidential dreams

Presidential hopeful Jimmy Wanjigi has accused Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga of working in cohorts to scuttle his presidential dreams.

Presidential hopeful Jimmy Wanjigi has accused Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga of working very hard to frustrate his presidential dreams.

Addressing journalists on Tuesday, February 22, the businessman-cum-politician said the two were after ensuring he does not attend the ODM party’s National Delegates Convention slated for Friday and Saturday this week.

“Odinga is in cohort with President Kenyatta and they want to stop my presidential bid by whatever means,” Wanjigi said.

Presidential hopeful Jimmy Wanjigi has accused Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga of working in cohorts to scuttle his presidential dreams.

Wanjigi, however, assured Kenyans that he will not be a coward and assured his supporters that his name will be on the ballot in the August 9, elections saying that the Odinga’s and Kenyatta’s families feel entitled and privileged while treating Kenyans as their subject.

“It is a critical moment that all Kenyans collectively stand up and unyoke themselves from the stranglehold of the Kenyatta and Odinga families,” he said.

The ODM presidential ticket contender further accused the Head of State and his handshake partner of working with the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to ensure he is arrested so that he does not attend the NDC.

This was after he threatened to paralyze the meeting over the omission of the nomination exercise for the party’s presidential candidate.

On Monday, February 21, the DCI gave businessman Jimmy Wanjigi 72 hours to surrender 11 firearms and 485 ammunitions he is allegedly holding illegally failure to which he will be arrested.

In a letter to Wanjigi, the detectives said that their investigations had established that he is in possession of firearms and ammunition that are deemed to be illegally held.

“This criminal investigation has established that you hold 10 Firearms of different makes and description as described below and which act of possession is in contravention of the Law as on 5 December 2018 the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Coordination of National Government Fred Matiang’i gave a Moratorium for Mandatory Vetting of Civilian Firearms Holders,” said Kuria Obadiah a Superintendent of Police attached to the DCI’s serious Crime Unit in the statement seen by Kivumbi.co.ke.

Other than using DCI, Wanjigi said all branch officials who are supporting his presidential bid have not been invited to the ODM NDC and that others have also been fired.

“Further a large number of bonafide branch officials who are aligned to me have also been barred from attending the same NDC,” Wanjigi said.
