Jimmy Wanjigi: I am not William Ruto’s spy in One Kenya Alliance

Presidential hopeful Jimmy Wanjigi has refuted claims that he is Deputy President William Ruto’s spy.

This is after the businessman who had hinted at working with Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka ahead of the August 9, General Election was reportedly kicked out of the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) talks for being Deputy President William Ruto’s mole.

But in an interview with Daily Nation on Tuesday, February 8, the businessman-turned-politician said that both Azimio la Umoja and OKA are government projects and that they fear him since he represents a seismic change.

“I represent seismic change! This is a rigged system against the length and breadth of Kenyan society. I’m certain the attacks on me every election period have to do with this fear,” Wanjigi said.

The businessman had in recent days been attending OKA meetings but was conspicuously absent on Wednesday, January 2, when its principals led by Kalonzo, Narc Kenya’s Martha Karua, KANU’s Gideon Moi, and UDP’s Cyrus Jirongo inked a deal to work together.

While reports emerged that the ODM presidential ticket contender was locked out for being Ruto’s spy, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka told journalists that Wanjigi is a life member of the Orange Democratic Movement which is not in OKA.

The former vice president further asked Wanjigi to first resolve his issues with the Raila Odinga-led party before being fully incorporated in the OKA.

“So he is not on the table until they resolve their issues in ODM,” the Wiper leader stated when asked about Wanjigi.

But on his part, Wanjigi maintained he is still a bonafide member of ODM but he would hesitate to decamp from the party should it continue its non-democratic and un-accommodative stand in regards to presidential nominations.
