Speaking during his tour of the Nyanza region on Sunday, September 19, Wanjigi said that he is ready for the battle but will concede defeat if beaten by the veteran politician.

“I am confident that I will win a good majority of these delegates because the time for fresh leadership in the party and in the country has come. I will, however, support Raila should I lose in a free and fair nomination” he said.

Additionally, Wanjigi expressed confidence in the ODM Party, terming it as a party deeply rooted in democracy.

“I am a believer of game-changing. I love the orange party because of its ideals and constitution, which is people-centered, its internal democracy, which I hope will be upheld so that it is the people who are heard and respected, not the few people in the party,” Wanjigi added.

His declaration comes after he made numerous calls for the ODM party to conduct fair elections even at grassroots levels.

Wanjigi faulted the ODM party leadership for conducting a number of grassroots elections without following due process of informing all the party members on the plans and criteria used.

In his push to take over ODM party leadership, Wanjigi has taken his campaigns to Raila Odinga’s backyard in the Nyanza region.

However, the presidential aspirant was an unwanted guest in some areas of the region.

On Friday, September 17 Jimmy Wanjigi was stoned after his meeting was marred with violence in Migori County.

But he has vowed to remain unbowed in his quest for the presidency and to take over the ODM party leadership.
