Businessman Jimmy Wanjigi has likened the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga to Biblical Judas Iscariot.
While comparing the former Premier to Biblical Judas Iscariot who betrayed Jesus after receiving 30 pieces of silver from the chief priest, Wanjigi said Raila betrayed him for not standing by his words and defending the truth.
Addressing journalists outside the Milimani Law Courts, the businessman-cum-politician said the opposition chief betrayed him and others after the handshake between him and President Uhuru Kenyatta.
He said after the 2018 truce between the two political nemeses, Raila completely forgot those people who stood by his side when he was being intimidated by the government.
“I say here today that my friend Raila Odinga is Judas Iscariot who, after getting 30 pieces of silver betrayed Jesus. That is who he (Raila Odinga) is,” Jimmy Wanjigi said.
The ODM presidential ticket contender was speaking on Wednesday, January 19, moments after being freed without being charged.
His release comes barely a day after his arrest which occurred on Tuesday, January 18.
He spent a night at the Kamukunji police cells terming it a historic as he had never spent a single night at a police cell before.
Speaking after being booked, Wanjigi was confident that his arrest has nothing to do with his KSh400 million property in Westlands.
“There is a bigger picture here and it has to do with the election, after all, why is every election Jimmy Wanjigi that is being sought by police? In 2017, they raided my home, now in 2022; they have also come for me. In between that, there is no offense, it is about elections. I’m making election very uncomfortable,” Wanjigi said.
