Johnson Sakaja wants Raila Odinga to provide graduation photos

by Amos Khaemba

On Friday, June 17, the Commission of University Education(CUE) asked Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja to provide copies of graduation photos in the ongoing investigation around the validity of his degree certificate.

But Sakaja and politicians allied to the Kenya Kwanza alliance accused the commission of selective application of the law.

The politicians wondered why no other aspirants had been requested to provide graduation photos before certification of the degrees.

Speaking on Monday, June 20 at Deputy President William Ruto’s Karen residence, Sakaja challenged CUE to extend the demand for graduation photos to the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga.

“Wakitaka niende na gown pia Raila abebe gown. Twende na gown zetu uko, tuoneshe gown za graduation,” Sakaja said.

This loosely translates to, “If they want me to go with my gown, Raila should also carry his. Let us go with our gowns, we show them our graduation gowns”.

According to Sakaja, it is wrong to have two sets of laws; one for him and another for the rest of the people.

Sakaja who is aspiring to be Nairobi governor on the UDA party continued to defend his education saying his track record speaks for itself.

“If you look at the Constitution, Article 89, word for word, I did that at the age of 24… Does that sound like someone who is not learned?” he asked.
Sakaja joins politicians in the Kenya Kwanza alliance to cast aspersions on the academic qualification of the ODM leader.

Speaking in Nyamira County last week, William Ruto blasted the government for frustrating Sakaja instead of targeting his main opponent Raila Odinga.

The former Eldoret North MP challenged the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party presidential candidate to make public his papers and classmates.

“Huyo candidate yenu wa rais alisoma wapi, alisoma ni, alisoma na Nani alisomeshwa na Nani, hamuwezi kujibu hiyo your, alafu mnatuambia Ako na degree,” Ruto said.

Loosely translated to, “Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party, Where did your president candidate (Raila) study, who are his classmates, which course did pursue, and who taught him?. You can not answer that, yet you tell us he has a degree
