UDA chairman confident William Ruto to win 2022 presidential race

by Enock Ndayala

Former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama believes has expressed confidence Kenya’s Deputy President William Ruto will win the 2022 presidential election.

This comes when there are claims from Ruto’s camp the planned constitutional amendment through BBI bill is a ploy by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga to prevent Ruto from entering State House.

On Monday, June 28, Muthama said Ruto will win the elections even if the deep state will push for constitutional amendments aimed at blocking his quest for country’s top seat.

“With or without President Uhuru Kenyatta and Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), the Deputy President William Samoei Ruto will win the presidency in 2022. God and the people of Kenya are backing him,” Johnstone Muthama said in a tweet.

Ruto’s allies have been complaining about what they say is a conspiracy by President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition Chief Raila Odinga to thwart Ruto’s ambition of becoming the fifth President.

Some of the ploys, they say, include the denial of Jubilee’s plan to merge with ODM, pushing for constitutional review as well as an attempt to confining Ruto’s campaigns within Rift Valley regions.

Ruto appears to be avoiding some of these traps and continues to gain support across the country if his heroic reception in Nyanza and Nakuru are anything to go by.

To counter Uhuru and Raila from blocking his presidential bid, Ruto revived the Party of Development and Reform (PDR) and rebranded it to United Democratic Alliance (UDA) saying if Jubilee deprives him of a presidential ticket then the best option will be UDA.
