Jubilee MP claims CS Fred Matiang’i will vie for the presidency in 2022

by Nderi Caren

Nakuru Town West MP has sensationally claimes that Interior CS Fred Matiangi will contest for the presidential seat in the 2022 General Election.

Samuel Arama said that Matiang’i’s enemies were calling for his sacking because they are afraid of his growing political influence.

According to him, the attackers were people that are eyeing top political seats in the country and are aware that Matiang’i’s good relationship with Uhuru could work in his favour.

He also dismissed claims that Matiang’i misused police officers who were in charge of the Bonchari by-election held on May 18. Photo: Fred Matiang’i/ Twitter.

“I know why they are doing this, but I want to confirm that the CS will be on the ballot whether you like it or not, and we will support him. The president (Uhuru) said he would surprise people when it comes to choosing his successor; you never know,” the Jubilee MP Said.

Arama also cleared the air on the planned impeachment motion against the CS.

“I have talked with my fellow MPs, and there are no plans for impeaching the CS. People who are peddling rumours about the same have their personal issues, and they should come out clear,” he said.

He also dismissed claims that Matiang’i misused police officers who were in charge of the Bonchari by-election held on May 18.

The Nakuru West legislator said that it it were true, president Uhuru would have called out Matiang’i on his own.

His sentiments comes amid calls from ODM and a section of Jubilee politicians to impeach the Interior CS over what they term as misuse of power.

The two factions accused Matiang’i of using police officers to frustrate their campaigns, while allowing Jubilee candidate to operate freely.

ODM secretary-general Edwin Sifuna termed it as animosity towards his people.

“Matiangi behaves like a beast, clobbering his own people in Kisii like they are animals. Uhuru must sack Matiang’i send him to the ministry of wildlife. He will be at home,” he said.
