Jubilee MP suggests William Ruto is mentally unstable to be Deputy President

by Enock Ndayala

Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has challenged Deputy President William Ruto to resign as the country’s second in command saying he is mentally unstable.

Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, March 16, the Ndaragua Member of Parliament said the deputy president has turned out to be a ‘temperamental person’ person who is unfit to hold any public office.

“If the deputy president is so unhappy with the things that are happening in the government, he should resign. I don’t want to doubt his mental capacity but that is also one of the grounds that are available in the constitution for you to resign,” Ruto said.

Kioni further stated that the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) presidential flag bearer in the August 9, General Election belongs to two political parties.

“He should do the honorable thing and resign. In any case, even the constitution says that you cannot belong to two (political) parties and be a member of the executive and especially occupy the office of the deputy president,” he said.

According to the Constitution of Kenya 2010, the Deputy President may be removed from office on the ground of physical or mental incapacity to perform the functions of the office; or on impeachment.

Kioni’s remarks were endorsed by Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati who wondered why the deputy president was criticizing the government from within urging him to be a man enough and resign.

“With humility, get out of the government and campaign against Azimio la Umoja,” Arati said.

Their call comes less than 24 hours after the deputy president blasted President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration accusing it of excessive borrowing.

Speaking on Tuesday, March 15, at Kasarani Indoor Arena during the UDA National Delegates Convention, DP Ruto blamed the handshake for aiding in the blundering of the economy through massive borrowing.

“The only thing I can remember on matters to do with an economy that the handshake has done is to borrow 7 trillion in the 5 years, it is a tragedy that we must investigate,” Ruto said.
