by Enock Ndayala

On Tuesday, February 7, more than 30 MPs elected to the Jubilee Party met President William Ruto at the State House.

The Jubilee lawmakers were led by nominated MP Sabina Chege, Margaret Kamar, Adan Keynana, and Yusuf Hassan (Kamukunji) among others.

Their meeting came just hours after eight ODM legislators met the Head of State and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and pledged to work with the government.

As such, the Jubilee party has revealed that the rebel MP who met the president without the party’s go-ahead will be disciplined.

Jubilee party Secretary Jeremiah Kioni on Wednesday, February 8, warned the members against meeting the President but they defied him.

The former Ndaragua MP further maintained that already disciplinary actions have commenced and that they would be called to answer to charges leveled against them.

“I am not in support of the meeting. Attempts to get my opinion on the matter were denied by the members. Disciplinary measures have commenced against the members as we speak,” he said.

Kioni, a fierce critic of President Ruto claimed that the First in command did not mean well for the country.

While accusing Ruto of buying any dissenting opinion the Jubilee spokesperson said the president was desperate and that he was seeking to have the majority of members in the National Assembly.

He however insisted that their departure will not in any way interfere with the opposition’s ongoing anti-government protests.

“We are aware that this move by Ruto is to kill in contrary opinion and to ensure that there is no voice to speak against the ills of his illegitimate government,”

“The MPs in the State House meeting have never attended our rallies. That does not in any way hamper the party’s activities in the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party,” he added.
