Jubilee party Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni has said that National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi stands to be impeached for betraying President Uhuru Kenyatta.

This was after the National Assembly speaker joined William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza team ahead of the much-awaited 2022 General Election.

Speaking in Nyahururu town on Monday, April 11, Ndaragwa MP said that the move by Muturi to abandon the head of state, a man who elevated him to a powerful government position amounts to impeachment.

Jubilee party Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni has said that National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi stands to be impeached for betraying President Uhuru Kenyatta.

However, the lawmaker challenged Muturi to willingly tender his resignation adding that as the ruling party, they don’t have time to impeach him with only 119 days to the August 9 General Election.

“A person who believes in himself and a person who would want to be genuine to Kenyans will quickly tender his or her resignation… We don’t have the time to impeach him, but if we had time we would have done so,” Kioni said.

While accusing Muturi of being a UDA mole in the National Assembly, the lawmaker said the 12th parliament has been the worst courtesy of the speaker who has been favoring legislators aligned to Ruto.

On Saturday, April 9, Kivumbi.co.ke reported that Muturi signing a pre-election agreement with the-yet-to registered Kenya Kwanza coalition at a hotel in Karen.

Muturi became the latest key Mt Kenya leader to defy President Uhuru Kenyatta’s political stand from the huge voting bloc.

While inking a pre-election deal with Muturi, the deputy president said the deal is a culmination of lengthy talks between the Kenya Kwanza Alliance and the Democratic Party over the past couple of weeks.

“I am proud Kenyan that we are today joined by a party that has a history in the Republic of Kenya. A party that has had a footprint in the transformation journey of the country having been led at one time by former President Mwai Kibaki,” William Ruto said.

However, the Democratic Party National Executive Committee has since downplayed Muturi’s move to join Deputy President William Ruto ahead of the polls.
