Jubilee secretary general on why Raila will win presidential elections by 65%

by Amos Khaemba

Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has insisted that ODM leader Raila Odinga will clinch the Presidency in the August 9 General Election

Speaking to KTN NEWS on Wednesday, March 16, Kioni said the ODM leader will garner 65 percent of the total votes cast.

According to Kioni, the former premier has been getting closer to winning the previous elections, and with his traditional political bases intact, the ODM leader only requires a small addition from his new pollical friends.

“It is a fact that in 2007, 2013, and 2017 Raila got 44 % of the total voting bloc in this country irrespective of the political formations around him,” Kioni stated.

“Raila has had a constant 44 % in the last 15 years, what is he looking for? Just 7 percent, which is 6+1 percent to get to 50+1 constitutional threshold,” Kioni opined.

The lawmaker pointed out that the yet-to-be registered Azimio La Umoja affiliate parties will be working hard enough to ensure Raila Odinga wins in round one of the presidential elections.

We want him to go beyond 60% because we do not want the issue of a presidential re-run…We are working so hard to ensure that gap between Raila and whoever will be number two is such that the number two can continue crying but it will not cost the country KSh 1.2 trillion,” Kioni said.

Projections by the Kieni MP come after recent polls showed that the ODM leader has overtaken Deputy President William Ruto to become the most preferred presidential candidate.

According to the poll by Radio Africa Group released on Wednesday, March 16, Raila will be elected the president if elections were held today.

The poll showed that 47.4 percent of respondents would vote for Raila as the president if elections were held today, compared to Ruto’s 43.4 percent.

It is important to note that the polls did not fact in the recent political happenings such as the move by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka declaring Raila Tosha.
