by

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, a close ally to Kenya’s Deputy President William Ruto has branded Jubilee party vice chair David Murathe as the ‘father of corruption in Kenya.

This is after Murathe, a close friend to President Uhuru Kenyatta was named among the three beneficiaries of the multi-billion scandal at the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA).

The former Senate leader of majority in the Senate on Friday, April 23, took to social media to fire shots at Murathe who has been publicly exchanging insults with DP Ruto’s camp over who is corrupt.

“I am surprised that there is a Kenyan who did not know that Murathe is the father of corruption and tenderpreneurship. The sad news is that he is the agent. Who is the principal? Your guess is as good as mine,” Murkomen said.

According to Murkomen, Murathe is just an agent representing the interest of a more higher authority in Jubilee.

Murkomen’s attack to Murathe comes on the backdrop of a recent report by the National Assembly Public Investments Committee (PIC) investigating the Sh7.8 billion Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (Kemsa) scandal which has questioned Murathe’s association with Kilig Limited.

According to the Committee, Murathe influenced the tender process of the authority to get a Ksh 4 Billion tender for a company he is associated with, reports that former Gatanga MP denied saying he has never been the drector of the two companies that supplied PPEs adding that he was only a signatory for Kilig’s bank accounts.

Murkomen’s accusations were echoed by his Kericho count counterpart Aaron Cheruiyot who said Murathe is corrupt and enjoys political insurance.

Murkomen’s remarks have since elicited sharp reactions from Kenyans especially those allied to Murathe who is a close confidant of the head of the state.
