Juja MP to dump Moses Kuria for William Ruto

by Enock Ndayala

Recently elected Juja MP George Koimburi has hinted at dumping Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria’s party for United Democratic Alliance (UDA), an outfit heavily associated with Deputy President William Ruto.

According to a poster shared on his social media pages sensitizing residents to register as voters, Koimburi made it clear he was on his way to UDA.

In the poster, the lawmaker is branded by UDA colors, logo, and the name of the Deputy President suggesting that he will be defending his seat on a UDA ticket.

This comes barely months after Koimburi was elected on Moses Kuria’s People’s Empowerment Party (PEP).

In May 2021, Koimburi won the hotly contested Juja parliamentary seat following the death of former MP Francis Waititu alias Wakapee.

Koimburi garnered 12,159 votes to clinch the seat where Susan Njeri Waititu of the Jubilee party came a distant second after getting 5,746 votes.

Reports claim that Koimburi shifted the allegiance after learning that Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria’s young brother Aloise Kinyanjui could be vying for the seat on Moses Kuria’s party.

But Kivumbi.co.ke understands that the deputy president financed Koimburi’s candidature for the Juja Parliamentary by-election.

“Yes, I received tremendous support from the deputy president for the Juja by-election both financial and political,” Kuria said.

Speaking in June while taking an oath of office, said he will fully work with the Jubilee administration that he had revived many stalled projects initiated by the immediate former MP Francis Waititu alias ‘Wakapee’. They include; the release of 100 power transformers, repair of access roads, and upgrading of schools.

“Contrary to the perception that I would be sidelined by the government for defeating the Jubilee candidate, the reality is that I am in good books with President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration,” said the MP.
