Junet: Alfred Mutua cannot lead, he was dumped by wife

by Enock Ndayala

Suna East MP Junet Mohamed has blasted Machakos governor Alfred Mutua for ditching ODM leader Raila Odinga for Deputy President William Ruto.

On Monday, May 9, the Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader announced that he had officially shifted allegiance to Deputy President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza camp.

But speaking in Kajiado hours after Mutua’s exit from the Raila Odinga-led outfit, Junet said Mutua’s exits from their camp would not in any way help the deputy president beat the former Prime Minister in the presidential election.

The Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya council secretary-general further wondered how the Governor who failed to keep a wife would be of political benefit.

“Alfred Mutua mtu ambaye ata bibi amemuacha, huyo ataongoza Kenya? (Alfred Mutua was dumped by his wife, can he lead Kenya)?” Junet posed amid cheers from the crowd.

While exiting, the second-term governor accused the Raila Odinga-led coalition of unequal treatment of political parties in the formation.

However, Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance Executive Director Raphael Tuju dismissed Mutua’s claims saying the outgoing governor was William Ruto’s mole in Azimio.

“Since we knew that was going on there was no need to continue negotiating with them. You can’t tell someone you want to leave a marriage because of a marriage certificate. They are lying to all of us,

“Some of the people who said that they needed this document we know that they were negotiating with the other side and they needed it for purposes of benchmarking,” Tuju said.

Governor Mutua and former Machakos first lady Lilian Nganga announced their separation on August 15, 2021, through their social media platforms adding that they remained ‘good friends and business partners.

Ng’ang’a and Mutua had been together for more than nine years, a time during which she acted as the official Machakos county first lady, on top of performing official duties.
