Kabando Wa Kabando: Any presidential aspirant to be endorsed by Uhuru will lose in 2022

by Enock Ndayala

Former Mukurweini MP Kabando wa Kabando has said any presidential aspirant who will be endorsed by President Uhuru will lose in the 2022 General Election.

The former member of parliament suggested that even perceived frontrunners in the 2022 presidential contest ODM Leader Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto are aware of the fate that would befall them if they get President Uhuru’s endorsement.

“Anyone endorsed by outgoing (President) Uhuru will lose terribly. Frontrunners Raila (Odinga) and (William) Ruto know this too well,” Kabando said in a Tweet on Tuesday, November 2.

The veteran politician however said that former Prime Minister Raila Odinga who is also President Uhuru Kenyatta’s handshake partner appears to be the presidential aspirant that would be endorsed by the first in command.

Kabando who recently claimed that a Raila Odinga presidency is increasingly becoming a reality heaped praises on the Head of State for his tactful move that brought his competitors to his fold.

The former legislator likened President Uhuru’s leadership style to that of Kenya’s longest-serving President- late president Daniel Moi.

“President Uhuru is hands-on and knows everything happening in every corner and on every key political leader. Only Arap Moi can beat him on this. The biggest Uhuru achievement post-2017 election is he has silenced all his main competitors, and enrolled them big-time state largesse,” he added.

His remarks come at a time when retiring president Uhuru Kenyatta appears to be preparing ODM leader Raila Odinga to take over the leadership of the country in August 2022.

Last week, President Uhuru, whose relationship with his deputy, appears to have deteriorated beyond irredeemable levels cautioned Kenyans against electing leaders he termed ‘thieves’ ahead of 2022 elections.

“I urge you, don’t be incited. Choose leaders who will ensure this country remains peaceful and united and those who will carry on with the work we already started and not take us back to where we came from,” said President Kenyatta in Kikuyu language.
