Kabando wa Kabando: Ignore Kalonzo, 2022 contest is between Raila and Ruto

by Enock Ndayala

Former Mukurweini MP Kabando Wa Kabando has dismissed Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s demands to ODM leader Raila Odinga ahead of the August 9, presidential duel.

This was after the former vice president said he will only reunite with the opposition leader in the upcoming elections if he honors the 2017 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) they signed.

Kalonzo revealed that Raila had signed an agreement that required him to support the Wiper leader in the 2022 presidential polls irrespective of the outcome of the 2017 presidential election.

Former Mukurweini MP Kabando Wa Kabando has dismissed Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s demands to ODM leader Raila Odinga ahead of the August 9, presidential duel.

But according to Kabando Wa Kabando, the August 9, presidential duel is a two-horse race between ODM leader Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto.

The ex-legislator who has expressed his interest in the Nyeri senatorial seat said the 2017 agreement between Raila and Kalonzo is not part of their concerns as far as the 2022 General Election is concerned.

He said the vote-rich Mt Kenya region was not part of the 2017 National Super Alliance (NASA) agreement adding that it bypassed central and Nairobi regions.

“Raila and Kalonzo: Your agreement 2017 is not our concern ahead of 2022! Your NASA secret agreement bypassed Mt Kenya and Nairobi regions, so we didn’t matter then. GEMA nation wasn’t core to your plans. The presidential contest now is Raila vs  Ruto. Viti Zingine tumajipanga fiti!” he said in a Tweet.

Kalonzo who was addressing journalists on Tuesday, March 1, had alleged that his 2017 deal with Raila was to remain valid until after the August 9, 2022 elections.

“By this agreement, the parties agree that principal H (Raila Odinga) will be NASA’s presidential nominee and that principal Q (Kalonzo Musyoka) will be his running mate,

“This agreement will remain valid until the 2022 elections whether or not NASA wins the 2017 presidential elections,” Kalonzo said.
