Kakamega senator says Musalia must be OKA Presidential flag bearer

by Amos Khaemba

Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has asked One Kenya Alliance team to settle on ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi as its Flagbearer as a bare minimum.

Malala said that any formula that doesn’t place Mudavadi at the top will not be entertained by ANC, noting Mudavadi is the best candidate among the four OKA leaders.

Speaking on Saturday, January 15, in Kakamega County, Malala said that Luhya nation will not back Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka for the presidency and it is tired of backing outsiders for the seat.

“The only formula we shall accept is that which fronts Musalia as OKA presidential candidate,” senator Malala said.

The sentiments by the vocal senator seem to be a direct attack at the OKA technical team that had formulated three options with Kalonzo being picked as the best option for the OKA team in both options.

Malala lashed out at the technical committee, wondering how they could settle on Wiper leader yet he does not have numbers to warrant backing.

“We want to tell them that it is a small river that channels its waters to a big river. We the Luhyas’ are many. It is not possible to be back other people yet we are not backing our son (Musalia Mudavadi),” Malala added.

On Friday, January 13, only Kalonzo, Wetangula, and Gideon turned up for their meeting at Elementaita in Nakuru to deliberate the report by the technical team.

Mudavadi snubbed the meeting, in what was viewed as a protest to the technical committees’ recommendation for Kalonzo the flagbearer of OKA.

The ANC leader later came out to defend his absence by saying by party matters as he was attending a meeting for the planning of NDC for his party.

OKA is made up of four principals namely Musalia Mudavadi of ANC, Moses Wetangula of Ford Kenya, Gideon Moi of KANU, and Kalonzo Musyoka of Wiper.
