Kakamega senator warns Musalia against dropping his 2022 presidential bid

Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has warned ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi against dropping his 2022 presidential bid for fear of not winning the seat.

This comes barely weeks after former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale urged Mudavadi to shelve his 2022 presidential ambitions and support Deputy President William Ruto stating that it was the only method that would help the former Vice president to be part of the government that would be formed.

But in a video posted on his social media pages, Malala told the One Kenya Alliance principal not to be stressed out about clinching the presidency in the 2022 General Election.

Malala advised Mudavadi and other OKA principals Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Gideon Moi (Kanu), and Moses Wetang’ula (Ford Kenya) to borrow lessons from the political career of the Orange Democratic Movement leader Raila Odinga.

The vocal legislator who has expressed his interest to succeed retiring Governor Wycliffe Oparanya in the next General Election said it is not mandatory for Mudavadi to win the presidency for him to be part of the government that would be formed.

According to Malala, Raila has been part and parcel of past administrations despite not being in the winning camps.

“I want to tell Mudavadi and other One Kenya Alliance (OKA) principals not to worry if they fail in elections,

“Raila (Odinga) has taught us that it is not a must to win elections to be in government. He has been in all governments yet he has not won any elections. We will not vote Raila again,” Senator Malala said in a Tweet.

On Monday, November 8, Khalwale told Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula and Musalia Mudavadi to join Deputy President William Ruto’s party if they want to be in government after the 2022 elections.

He said as much as the two leaders were strong, they were still unable to be part of the government that would be formed urging Mudavadi to be William Ruto’s running mate.
