Kakamega senator warns Raila Odinga against night calls to Musalia Mudavadi

by Enock Ndayala

Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has told ODM leader Raila Odinga to stop calling ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi at night.

Malala who was speaking on Sunday, November 21, at a rally in Kakamega County claimed that the opposition leader has been frequently making calls to the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) principal requesting him to shelve his 2022 ambition and back Raila’s Azimio la Umoja.

“We have come here to tell ODM, stop calling us at night, we do not want your phone calls. We have already settled for Musalia, and he will not support Raila Amollo Odinga again,” Senator Cleophas Malala said.

The claims by Senator Malala who is eying the Kakamega gubernatorial seat in the 2022 General Election comes barely a day after a popularity poll placed Mudavadi’s fame at only 3 percent.

According to Malala, the recent TIFA polls were sponsored by the opposition leader Raila Odinga and were meant to woo the 2013 presidential candidate to the Kieleweke camp.

“Every night Raila calls Musalia asking him to support him. If Musalia has no influence, why are you calling him?” Malala posed.

Malala further faulted President Uhuru Kenyatta’s handshake partner for openly demeaning Musalia Mudavadi during his tours at Mudavadi’s turf.

It is understood that there have been calls by President Uhuru Kenyatta to unite the OKA and presidential hopeful Raila Odinga in the run-up to the 2022 elections.

Raila’s relationship with other OKA principals Moses Wetang’ula (Ford Kenya) and Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper) has been shaky since their National Super Alliance split.

Last week, Mudavadi asked Raila to stop lying to Kenyans as the ODM leader positions himself to be Kenya’s fifth president.

The former Vice president slammed Raila Odinga’s promise of a KSh 6,000-a-month stipend to poor families if he is elected.

“I have heard some politicians promising a social welfare economy model by getting KSh 6, 000. My question is; where will they get this money? They are simply lying to voters for the sake of votes,” Mudavadi said.
