Kalonzo: I am the Messi of Azimio, I have come to deliver victory

Kalonzo Musyoka has dropped the clearest hint that he would be a running mate to Raila Odinga for the third time August General Elections.

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s influence in the forthcoming August 9 elections cannot be overstated bearing in mind the numbers he brings on board.

When Kalonzo revived his presidential ambition, many people suggested that his decision could have given the United Democratic Alliance presidential flag bearer William Ruto a head start against his main rival the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party flag bearer Raila Odinga.

Both in the 2013, and 2017 General Elections, statistics show that the former vice president consistently contributed more than 1.5 million votes to Raila’s vote basket.

His return to Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party on Thursday, June 2, 2022, was thus a major boost to Raila Odinga’s fifth attempt at the presidency and no one knows this more than himself.

Speaking at Mukuru Kwa Njenga on his return, Kalonzo told UDA presidential candidate William Ruto to prepare to go home in the August election.

According to the Wiper leader, he has returned to play the role similar to that of renowned Argentine footballer Lionel Messi to ensure that Raila wins the August polls.

“I was resting up. Raila had kept me as a spare. Now I am back. I am the Messi of this team, back to deliver victory,” Kalonzo said.

Kalonzo further said that his addition means there is no need for President Uhuru Kenyatta to actively campaign for the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party flag bearer as the team is strong enough.

“Namuunga mkono ndugu yangu Uhuru Kenyatta. Ameonesha hataki kufanya Raila project…Tunamwambia pumzike, wacha Martha Karua na Raila na Kalonzo waokoe Kenya ii kutokana na ufisadi, ” he said.

Loosely translates to: “I support my brother Uhuru. He has shown that he does not want to make Raila a project… Now he should rest and let Martha Karua, Raila, and Kalonzo save Kenya from corruption.”

In his welcoming speech, the ODM leader said the move by Kalonzo Musyoka now means the Azimio team is complete and ready to face their opponents.

“The Azimio team is now complete and we are ready to face the Kenya Kwisha team. We will compete with them like never before,” Raila said.
