Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and his ANC counterpart Musalia Mudavadi have overtaken Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua as the most preferred running mate.

According to Infotrak, Mudavadi and Kalonzo received approval ratings of 44 and 19 percent respectively overtaking Martha Karua who had initially been named the most preferred running mate in the 2022 General Election.

Of the 16,000 people interviewed between 17 September and 21 December,  52 percent of Kenyans suggested that the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) dissolve and join either William Ruto’s Bottom-Up or the Azimio la Umoja side, which is led by ODM leader Raila Odinga.

56 percent of those interviewed want OKA Co-principal Musalia Mudavadi to be Raila Odinga number two in the fast-approaching 2022 polls.

In the survey dubbed The Infotrak Voice of the People Poll, 29 percent want Kalonzo to be Raila’s running mate while Kanu supremo Gideon Moi and Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetang’ula ranked third and fourth respectively.

Opposition chief Raila Odinga named Kalonzo Musyoka as his running mate in the 2013 and 2017 General Election respectively.

However, the Wiper leader has maintained that he will not play a second fiddle for President Uhuru Kenyatta’s handshake partner Raila Odinga.

Martha Karua’s popularity as the preferred running mate in the 2022 elections has been dwindling in the recent past.

The survey which was released on Monday, December 27, further disclosed that ODM leader Raila Odinga has overtaken his 2022 main challenger William Ruto in popularity ratings.

Raila’s popularity grew from 13 percent in December last year to 33 percent in 2021 whereas William Ruto’s popularity has decreased to 32 percent up from 44 percent in December 2020.

The survey further revealed that Mudavadi and Kalonzo are the most popular candidates in OKA and enjoy 1 percent popularity in the country.
