A section of leaders allied to opposition leader Raila Odinga has thrown their weight behind Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s 2027 presidency.

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has pleaded with Kenyans to put him and his family in prayers.

Speaking during an interview with NTV on Thursday, January 5, the former vice president said he had been accused of things he did not do.

While calling for Kenyans to pray for each other Kalonzo said he had been branded names like ‘Watermelon’.

“Let’s pray for each other. Catholics, Protestants, Muslims, and Hindus… Please Kenyans, pray for me and for my family so that I will not be accused forever for things I have not done,” Kalonzo said.

Kalonzo’s plea for prayers comes at a time when the former vice president is working hard to succeed opposition leader Raila Odinga as the Azimio la Umoja Presidential candidate in the 2027 elections.

On Monday, January 2, Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua maintained that Kalonzo was best placed to battle with Kenya Kwanza for the country’s top leadership.

“Kalonzo Musyoka is the best presidential candidate for the Azimio coalition in 2027 since he has the necessary experience and deserves the support of former President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, whom he has been loyal to,” Wambua stated.

Yesterday, Kivumbi.co.ke reported that the seasoned politician ruled out supporting Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party presidential candidate Raila Odinga in the 2027 elections.

Kalonzo, who supported Raila in 2013,2017, and 2022 insisted that he will challenge President Ruto in the 2027 elections adding that he was vindicated to support the former Prime Minister in the August 9, elections.

In the interview, Musyoka said he has no regrets for backing Odinga who narrowly lost in the 2022 election to President William Ruto.

“The fool in me ended up supporting Raila for the third time but that fool is wiser now than he was then. I am no fool. It took some painful introspection to support Raila for the third time and it was the right thing to do,” he said.
