Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka is the third One Kenya Alliance member to turn down an invitation to Raila Odinga’s function on Friday, December 10, 2021.

This is after his co-principals Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula announced that they will not be attending the National Azimio la Umoja meeting at the Kasarani Stadium.

The Wiper Party leader will be absent at Raila Odinga’s function because he is in Juba, South Sudan for official duties.

“Since this is a culmination of consultations, which we were not part of, we have passed our congratulatory messages to Azimio la Umoja, but we will not be there. We will focus on our launch as OKA,” Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo told the Daily Nation.

This confirmation comes after Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula publicly turned down the offer to attend Raila Odinga’s function, where he is expected t announce his presidential bid.

Musalia Mudavadi cited personal engagements as the reason why he will not make it to the National Azimio la Umoja function.

“I have just received an official invitation to Azimio la Umoja Convention. As noted herein, the invitation was addressed in my personal capacity as ANC Party Leader and not OKA Principal. Regrettably, I will not be able to attend because of personal engagements,” he said.

Following his announcement, Moses Wetangula also publicly turned down the offer from ODM.

“I received an invitation to my brother Hon R A Odinga party leader ODM to attend his Azimio event tomorrow. Due to prior engagements, I will not attend. I wish him well,” he wrote.

Their actions sparked reactions from Raila Odinga’s team, with his Communications director Philip Etale calling Mudavadi out for publicizing the absentia.

“When the invitation card was issued, it wasn’t posted on social media. It was not even shown on TV. It was between the sender and the receiver. Tuwache kubehave kama watoi jameni (Let’s stop behaving like children),” Etale wrote in a tweet.
