A section of leaders allied to opposition leader Raila Odinga has thrown their weight behind Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s 2027 presidency.

Kenya’s President William Ruto on Thursday, October 20, presided over Mashujaa Day celebrations at Uhuru Gardens Nairobi.

This was the first public holiday to be presided over by William Ruto since he was sworn in as the fifth Head of State on Tuesday, September 13.

However, Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party’s top leaders were conspicuously missing from the event.

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka was the only top leader of the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition party that attended the event.

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, his 2022 presidential running mate Martha Karua, and retired President Uhuru Kenyatta skipped the event.

Uhuru is the chairman of the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition party whereas Raila was the presidential candidate for the coalition in the August 9, elections.

Raila Odinga, the leader of Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya, is currently out of the country for a week-long tour of India.

Photos from the venue captured the former Vice president sitting on the main dais together with other top government officials.

Musyoka was seated next to the outgoing Energy Cabinet Secretary (CS) Monica Juma, who has since been appointed as the National Security Advisor in President Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza government.

As such, Kenyans took to social media heaping praises on Kalonzo Musyoka for attending the Mashujaa Day event.

Here are some of their comments:

Blendena Bijaji said:

“kalonzo is mature… He does not put politics in his heart.”

Jane Akinyi said;

“That’s maturity in politics and otherwise… This is a national event and not a political rally. It is time to rebuild our country and make it great again. You’ve done good sir.”

Laban W Laban said;

“Kalonzo Musyoka will be given a job in this government. He has the best brains to work with Ruto. If you think I am wrong, watch this space.”

Jennifer Kebaso said;

“Let him (Kalonzo Musyoka) get prepared. In 2027, he will be the sixth president of Kenya.”
