Kalonzo Musyoka opens battle against President William Ruto

by Enock Ndayala

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has officially opened a battle with President William Ruto just a day after he addressed a joint parliamentary sitting.

Speaking at the Wiper Command Centre on Friday, September 30, the former vice president tore into President William Ruto’s parliament speech.

Kalonzo noted that the speech failed to address pressing fiscal issues currently plaguing the country’s economy, a move he says possibly foreshadows that Ruto’s administration will struggle to deliver on promises the Kenya Kwanza frontman made while campaigning for his presidential bid.

The Wiper leader further poked holes at the recently proposed 22-member cabinet team for consideration by the National Assembly.

He said Ruto should not have included a number of individuals in his nominee’s list on grounds that their integrity is questionable.

Kalonzo singled out former Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa and former Meru Senator Mithika Linturi who he said have pending criminal cases in court which he says is a clear red flag that they are undeserving of the said dockets.

“The selection of the Cabinet Secretaries, some of whom have amazingly active criminal cases, is unquestionable.  What are you asking our parliamentarians to do? If I was William Ruto, I would withdraw some of these completely to avoid national shame and even international shame,” he said.

Kalonzo termed William Ruto’s proposed nominees for various slots as “unprocedural” and vowed to rally MPs allied to Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition party not to approve some of the nominees.

“This (nominations) was not procedurally done and we shall direct our MPs to withhold approval of those who do not meet chapter 6 threshold of the constitution,” he said.

It is understood that Aisha Jumwa is facing murder charges at Mombasa High Court while Mithika Linturi is facing rape charges.
