Kalonzo Musyoka’s ally says Wiper not ready to deputize Raila Odinga

by Amos Khaemba
Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has announced his intentions to vie for the presidency in the 2027 General Election.

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s close ally Enock Wambua says that the Wiper party is not ready to deputize the ODM leader Raila Odinga in the forthcoming August presidential elections.

Speaking on the KTN News program dubbed Checkpoint on Sunday, February 27, the Kitui senator insisted that Kalonzo Musyoka cannot deputize Raila Odinga the third time.

“Coalition will have a conversation about producing a presidential candidate, I want to repeat what my party leader said and what I said myself, that as Wiper we are not ready to deputize Raila Amolo Odinga,” Wambua said.

According to Wambua, the Wipers stand is based on two historical instances where they fill the ODM party has shortchanged them.

Kalonzo Musyoka deputized Raila Odinga twice and he has told the public many times that he has had an agreement that Raila that in 2022 presidential, whether Raila won 2017 or not Raila was going to support Kalonzo Musyoka,” the Kitui senator said.

“We were indeed shortchanged out of political parties funding by ODM, and when the party leader of ODM finally agreed to pay out some money to the other affiliate parties to NASA,

“In his calculations, he said Wiper was entitled to Ksh 70 million, to date even after all the money has been received in ODM, to date they have only paid around Ksh 20 million,” Wambua added.

The vocal senator further claimed that One Kenya Alliance is not joining Azimio la Umoja in the upcoming General Election.

“One Kenya Alliance is opening up the doors for negotiations, we in Wiper are not joining Azimio; One Kenya Alliance is not joining Azimio. We have opened doors for negotiations, and discussion can take whatever directions,” the Kitui senator stated.

It is important to note that Wambua was among Kalonzo Musyoka’s troops who threatened to abandon the Wiper leader last year if he backed ODM boss Raila Odinga’s presidential bid.

“Should our party leader ever decide to support Raila Amolo Odinga for the presidency, we respectfully assure him of two very painful outcomes,” they said in a statement read by Wambua.
