Kalonzo okays Wiper governors to work with President Ruto on one condition

by Enock Ndayala
A section of leaders allied to opposition leader Raila Odinga has thrown their weight behind Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s 2027 presidency.

A section of legislators elected on former vice president Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper party asked their Party leaders to allow them to work with the Kenya Kwanza government.

Led by Mavoko MP Patrick Makau, the leaders on Wednesday, February 8, said they would visit President William Ruto at State House should their party leader reject the move.

“On Tuesday I saw ODM leaders at the State House with the President. It is time for Wiper MPs to join the bandwagon and lobby for our people from the Kenya Kwanza administration,” he said.

However, Kkalonzo Musyoka on Tuesday, February 14, allowed governors elected on his party ticket to work with President William Ruto to develop the Lower Eastern region.

Kalonzo, a close ally of Rtd. President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga however gave the county bosses one condition even as he allowed them to work with the President.

Speaking at Ngovu village during the burial of Nairobi businessman Paul Muthama Ngundi, the Wiper leader besieged elected leaders not to forget their home.

“We have told them that as governors, they should work with the government of the day. But they should not forget their home,” Kalonzo said.

He however barred other elected leaders from the Ukambani region from getting cozy with the Kenya Kwanza administration.

Kalonzo further thanked Wiper leaders who turned down an invite from the House on the Hill stating that by honoring the invite, the lawmakers would have written their political obituaries.

Wiper supported opposition leader Raila Odinga in the 2013 and 2017 presidential elections and has maintained that he will challenge President Ruto in the 2027 General Election.
