Kalonzo: Raila cannot win the presidency without me

Kalonzo Musyoka has sensationally claimed that Raila will be defeated in the August polls if he does not name him his running mate.

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has sensationally the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalitions presidential candidate Raila Odinga cannot with the August polls without naming him his presidential running mate.

Speaking in Kitui on Sunday, April 24, Kalonzo cautioned his allies against making public demands that he should be named Raila’s deputy, saying it is obvious that he stands a better chance of making Raila the president.

“Stop talking about the selection of Odinga’s deputy president position in public as this may portray us as weak. Let us keep quiet and watch how they approach the selection of the deputy president and pray.

“Everything is plain so why should we waste time? People know that when Raila takes the Wiper team on board, he will be the next President of Kenya. But there is a problem when Raila leaves Kalonzo,” Kalonzo said.

Sentiments by the Wiper leader came after allies warned that Kalonzo’s supporters will boycott the presidential election if the ODM leader does not pick the Wiper boss as his running mate.

Speaking last week, Dan Maanzo a close ally of the Wiper leader warned that they will. not entertain a line-up that does not have Kalonzo as the deputy.
Claims by Kalonzo come as the IEBC insist presidential candidates have until Thursday, April 28 to name their running mate.

The Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition has already set up a technical committee to help in vetting those interested in deputizing the ODM leader.

As the Wiper leader continues to up his stake in the coalition, the Mt Kenya faction mainly comprising of Jubilee party has also insisted the running mate slot should be reserved for the vote-rich region of Mt Kenya.

Apart from the Wiper boss other leaders being considered by the Azimio technical team include the Narc-Kenya leader Martha Karua, Agriculture CS Peter Munya, and Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho.
